Tech Connect 2025 was not merely a week-long event but a celebration of innovation, creativity, and learning with a celebratory theme. Organized by Herald College Kathmandu, the event was an initiative towards bringing potential +2 students from over 10 colleges together to discover, innovate, and learn all about the world of Internet of Things (IoT). The students got together and learned new technologies, created solutions for practical problems, and brought their ideas to reality.

The initiative was developed by the IoT Innovators Community, a student organization that focuses on embedded systems and the Internet of Things. Tech Connect was the Herald DevFest 2023 winning proposal and received a grant for its implementation. Focused on learning by teamwork and innovation, Tech Connect brought the students out of the classroom and into a realm of innovative experimentation.

Day 1, Voice of Power: IoT Action

The journey began with the "Vocal Power: IoT in Action" hands-on workshop as the students entered the world of voice enabled systems. A warm reception and orientation session preceded the introduction to the world of voice automation using Speech-to-Text APIs, Arduino, and sensors. The process progressed from the conceptual stage towards the practical stage as they developed functional prototypes within a matter of a few hours.

The event allowed the students to realize how voice commands can be used to drive devices and systems. It involved coding, electronics, and problem-solving, and equipped them with hands-on learning of how the IoT can be used to provide solutions for daily issues.

Day 2, Hands-On 3D: Concept to Creation

Day 2 focused on bringing ideas into reality. In “Hands-On 3D: Concept to Creation”, students learned the idea of 3D printing, developed their own designs, and saw them materialize using 3D printers. Day 2 consisted of tutorial classes along with live demonstrations with the opportunity for the students to learn, experiment, and improve.

The course brought the students into 3D both literally and imaginatively. It taught them how to picture their visions, make the most of the design tools they have, and mold them into something real, a core process of any tech-project.

Days 3 and 4, Project Forge

Now that they had learned, the students immersed themselves in "Project Forge". There, they spent their time building for two days. The students split up into groups and settled in with the projects that they had conceived. Programming or tinkering with hardware, it was a time of brainstorming, testing, and getting into the work.

It's what enabled them to apply everything they had learned. It was a challenge that enabled them to think critically, work as a team, solve problems on the spot, and even build working models. It gave them a sense of what it is like to create technological solutions from the ground up.

Days 5 and 6, Inventors’ Playground

The highlight of the excitement was “Innovators’ Arena”, the public exhibition and presentation of all the projects. Students exhibited their final work, explained their concept to the visitors, and replied to questions from curious passersby. The college turned into a live tech gallery as there were a line of voting booths and the visitors cast their vote for the projects that impressed them the most.

The process of the event offered the students a public speaking experience, conveying ideas effectively and receiving immediate feedback. It enabled them to contemplate how people would engage with the technology and gain self-confidence with the solutions.

Day 7, Closing and Celebrations

The last day of Tech Connect 2025 was a celebration of talent and commitment. Votes were cast, the announcements were released, and good teams got their just rewards. Greater even than the awards themselves, however, was the journey that they had traveled. With the sun setting, they all gathered for a well deserved Gala Dinner as they relived the memories, exchanged smiles, and forged new friendships.
The final ceremony wasn't merely an awards ceremony. It served as a recognition of the work, lessons of the experience, and appreciation of the innovative spirit that each of the students brought with them all week long

.
Tech Connect 2025 was a platform for young thinkers, makers, and potential tech heads to exhibit their skills. Herald College Kathmandu was transformed into an inspirational platform from which the students learned technology not from books but by doing. It proved that with the right tools and instructions, the students are capable of miracles, and the world of technology is in good hands.
